Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal is a procedure that uses a laser, or a concentrated beam of light, to get rid of unwanted hair in different areas of the body. Different skin types demand different lasers for safe and effective treatment.
At Monarch Plastic Surgery and Skin Renewal Center, we use the Cynosure Apogee Elite, which is actually two lasers: Alexandrite and YAG, in one machine. A thorough consultation with our Licensed Medical Esthetician will help to determine which laser is best for you. Laser Hair Removal is only effective in a series of treatments. We will provide you with a detailed quote with the appropriate number of treatments, which is typically 8 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart.
Questions & Answers
The best way to prepare for your Laser Hair Removal appointment is to stop all active ingredient topicals such as Retin-A, acids, and exfoliants and avoid any sun exposure for one week prior to your treatment. You will also need to stop any waxing, plucking, threading, and self-tanning for at least four weeks before your appointment. We ask that you shave the respective area 24 hours before your appointment.
There is mild downtime for Laser Hair Removal as you may experience localized swelling and redness at the site of the hair follicles. There is a chance you may experience itching to the treatment areas, but you are able to apply a topical steroid to reduce any discomfort. This should resolve within 48 hours.
