Microneeding
Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure that uses a handheld device called Skinpen. This device uses sterile needles to puncture the skin to create microtraumas. This new damage to your skin stimulates your skin’s healing process to produce collagen and elastin.
Microneedling is a great treatment option for all skin types. We highly recommend it if you have concerns with any of the following: deep or fine lines, wrinkles, acne scarring, raised surgical scars, hyperpigmentation or troublesome texture. It can also help with skin tightening, enlarged pores, and even stretch marks.
Microneedling can be paired with PRP, or Platelet-Rich-Plasma to expedite the healing process and improve overall results. Before your procedure, we will draw a small amount of blood and place it into our centrifuge to separate and isolate the platelet-rich-plasma. It is then applied topically during your microneedling treatment to support rapid healing and improve overall results.
Microneedling is best done in a series of treatments. We recommend starting with a package of 4-6 treatment sessions, and transitioning to a maintenance package once your desired results are achieved. Scars may need additional treatments.
Questions & Answers
The best way to prepare for Microneedling is to avoid any heavy sun exposure at least three days before your treatment.
There is minimal downtime after Microneedling. Your skin may look red and slightly swollen the day of treatment. Typically, this resolves over the course of 24 hours. You may be slightly pink for a day after treatment, but can begin wearing makeup at this time. You may experience mild flaking or dryness for a few days following treatment. We ask that you avoid exercise for the first 48 hours after your treatment, but normal activity can resume the following day. We ask that you refrain from any sun exposure and topical active ingredients (Retin-A, acids, and exfoliants) for the week following your procedure. We do recommend a good skincare regimen, which will improve and help maintain your microneedling results.
